For over a decade, Mr. Mpagi Josephat has been a pillar of academic excellence and leadership at Rubongi Army Secondary School. Having served as Director of Studies (DOS) for nearly ten years, he has played a crucial role in shaping the institution’s academic programs, guiding students, and fostering a culture of discipline and excellence. On Saturday, 9th February 2025, he officially handed over the office to Mr. Muhwezi Brain following his well-deserved promotion to Deputy Head Teacher in charge of A Level.
A Journey of Resilience and Determination
Mpagi’s journey is one of resilience and unwavering determination. Born and raised in a modest Catholic family in the Western region of Uganda, he faced financial hardships that could have deterred his educational aspirations. However, his passion for learning, particularly in mathematics, set him apart. Despite attending local village schools, he remained steadfast in his dream of excelling academically and making a meaningful impact in education.
His perseverance saw him through university, where he graduated as a professional teacher of Physics and Mathematics. His dream of teaching in a prestigious school became a reality when he joined Rubongi Army Secondary School, one of the best institutions in Eastern Uganda. His leadership as DOS helped transform the school’s academic standing, and his mentorship has inspired countless students to pursue excellence.
A Teacher, Mentor, and Advocate
Beyond his administrative roles, Mr. Mpagi is deeply committed to uplifting young people. He has dedicated his life to supporting underprivileged students, particularly those from Karamoja, ensuring they receive an education despite financial difficulties. His efforts have seen many students successfully complete their studies, including those at university level.
As a mentor, he instills values of hard work, discipline, and perseverance in his students. His words of encouragement, such as “Your humble background shouldn’t be a barrier to your education” and “A painful story has a successful ending,” continue to inspire those under his guidance.
Stepping into a New Chapter
With his new role as Deputy Head Teacher A Level, Mr. Mpagi is poised to make an even greater impact. His leadership and passion for education will now extend beyond academics to overall school administration, ensuring that Rubongi Army Secondary School continues to thrive.
As he embarks on this new journey, we celebrate his remarkable contributions and look forward to the positive changes he will bring in his new capacity. We extend our heartfelt gratitude for his dedication and wish him the very best in his new role.
